Nepenthes chaniana – BE-3673 – New Clone
Nepenthes chaniana is a surprisingly attractive plant, and hard to find in cultivation. These specimens are a new clone from tissue culture by Borneo Exotics. At Native Exotics we grow this plant under intermediate conditions, which means that the temperature is kept at 55-65°F at night and around 78-83°F during the day with a very high relative humidity. Customers will need to provide a similar environment for best results.
Nepenthes as a genus prefer high humidity, at least 75% RH for most species. In addition, they should be watered with distilled water, rainwater or reverse osmosis water rather than tap or well water. Fertilizing Nepenthes should only be done rarely, and with extreme care.
Most noteworthy about this species is its hirsute green body and long, funnel-shaped pitchers. In addition this is an easy to care for species, and hard to find in cultivation. The plant is still young, so some of the characteristics won’t show yet. It’s small, about 3″ across.
