Nepenthes sibuyanensis x merrilliana – BE-3542
Nepenthes sibuyanensis x merrilliana is an unusual and attractive plant. This hybrid is from tissue culture from Borneo Exotics, and is well hardened-off. At Native Exotics we grow this plant under intermediate conditions, which means that the temperature is kept at 55-65°F at night and around 78-83°F during the day with a very high relative humidity. Customers will need to provide a similar environment for best results.
Nepenthes as a genus prefer high humidity, at least 75% RH for most species. In addition, they should be watered with distilled water, rainwater or reverse osmosis water rather than tap or well water. Fertilizing Nepenthes should only be done rarely, and with extreme care.
Most noteworthy about this hybrid is its distinctive shape and squat pitchers. The plant is still young, so some of the characteristics won’t show yet. This specimen is a well hardened-off clone from Borneo Exotics. It is small, about 3″ across.
