Oeceoclades peyrotii x monophylla – Native Exotics – Seed Grown
Oeceoclades peyrotii x monophylla
This is an unusual genus found mostly in Madagascar and most species are terrestrial. This genus is a warm intermediate grower. This is an unusual hybrid in that O. peyrotii is endemic to Madagascar and the male O. monophylla is a pantropical species found over a very large geographic area. This specimen is comprised of several plants.
This specimen is a well hardened-off seed-grown plant from our lab here at Native Exotics. It’s large, about 4-5″ across. They’re still young, so some of the adult characteristics aren’t visible yet.
This plant prefers warm intermediate conditions, which means that it should be kept around 75-85°F during the day and 60-65°F at night with a very high relative humidity, allow to dry out some between watering.
Orchids as a genus, in most cases prefer high humidity, at least 55% RH for most species. In addition, they should be watered with distilled water, rainwater or reverse osmosis water rather than tap or well water. Fertilizing Orchids should only be done every two weeks using a fertilizer specifically for Orchids.
