Utricularia cornigera – Native Exotics – Rare
Utricularia cornigera – is a larger and attractive species. It tends to be easier to grow and very rewarding. The flowers are extremely beautiful, the leaves on this Utricularia can be several inches in diameter and stand on 12″ stems. U. cornigera in general requires cool nights at about 60 F or even as cool as 55 F to do well and days in the mid to upper 70’s. It can tolerate slightly warmer nights as well as slightly warmer days if exposed for short periods of time. This species grows well in live sphagnum moss or peat and silica sand. They require ‘wet feet’ so don’t let this species dry out for very long and keep the humidity high, we have found they prefer being submerged in a tray of water. As with all carnivorous plants use distilled water, rain water or reverse osmosis water.
